this piece is for an assignment about my hometown. i've moved around so much, that i don't really have a "hometown". there was really only one thing that stayed with me when i moved from one place to another...my yellow hand-knitted blanket made by my grandmother. i associated that feeling of home with that blanket. so, the texture and colors of that blanket are the inspiration of the piece.8" x 16" (had to be done as a two-page book spread), gouache on black canson paper.
Cool piece. It's interesting that home wasn't a place, but an object. I like how the turtle is in the textures of the blanket.
